A research project led by China Nuclear Power Engineering Co., Ltd., with Siping Juyuan Hanyang Plate Heat Exchanger Co., Ltd. and Hunan Xiangtou Goldsky Titanium Metal Co., Ltd. as participating partners, has passed a scientific and technological achievement appraisal. The project focused on applying domestically produced titanium plate in nuclear-grade plate heat exchangers.

Key Material Progress for Nuclear Heat Exchange

Titanium plate heat exchangers are important equipment in nuclear cooling systems. Deep-corrugated plates require high-performance titanium strip with stable forming, corrosion resistance, and consistent mechanical properties. The successful appraisal indicates progress toward domestic substitution for titanium plate used in nuclear deep-corrugated plate heat exchangers.

Joint Development and Validation

The project evaluated the suitability of domestic titanium plate for nuclear-grade plate heat exchanger applications, including material behavior, plate forming, equipment manufacturing, and adaptation to nuclear operating requirements.
